I am contacting CAMH to invite a speaker for our annual conference to address the topic of parenting and cannabis use.
As stated in the CBC article Kids and pot shouldn't mix, posted October 2nd, there “are multiple risks parents and would-be parents who use cannabis need to keep in mind.” The Best Start booklet Risks of Cannabis on Fertility, Pregnancy, Breastfeeding and Parenting was also referred to as well as extract of the cannabis resource we adapted for Health Canada Thinking about using cannabis while parenting.
Our conference addresses issues of interest to service providers working in the areas of preconception, prenatal, child health and education. Service providers from various fields attend such as public health nurses, early childhood educators, midwives, social service workers, program planners, etc. We expect approximately 300 participants to our annual conference.
The session would be on February 14th from 10:00 to 12:30. You can view the draft of the programing at http://en.beststart.org/2019-Conference/program. We may also do this session as a panel to further bring several points of views/research on this topic. Your suggestions are welcomed.
Kindly let me know of your interest and/or availability.
