CAMH has submitted a proposal to the City of Toronto for several minor parking variances as part of our final phase (1D) of redevelopment. The construction period for this phase of construction is estimated to be between 2024 to 2029. These timelines are approximate and are subject to change.
This proposal will be reviewed at a Committee of Adjustment meeting hosted by the City on October 4, 2023 at 9:30am.
Here are more details about CAMH’s requests:
- A temporary parking variance is being requested. During certain periods of the 1D construction project, CAMH will have a parking deficit. The maximum deficit will be 220 parking spaces, with 405 parking spaces available for use. Plans are underway to ensure that both staff and community members have adequate access to parking during the construction period and will be communicated in the fall.
- A parking variance is being requested for 100 Stokes Street. In the above ground parking structure of 100 Stokes Street, there is a narrow drive aisle that is half a meter narrower than the bylaw requires. The drive aisle will be wide enough for two vehicles to safely pass one another. There will be signage posted to notify drivers.
- A parking variance is being requested for 101 Stokes Street and 97 Stokes Street to account for parking spaces with insufficient space around the parking space to either access the parking space of fully open doors. 50 spaces fitting this category have been requested.
All of our redevelopment projects have gone through rigorous approval processes including consultations with community partners, provincial government bodies such as Infrastructure Ontario, and City of Toronto officials.
Please note that notices for the Committee of Adjustment meeting have been distributed by the City of Toronto to homes within 200 feet of CAMH property. To view the application, visit http://www.toronto.ca/aic.
