CAMH is proud to launch Global Learning Academy, connecting learners around the world with evidence-based, accredited education in mental health and addiction. Designed for professionals, community providers, educators, patients, and families, the Academy makes CAMH’s expertise more accessible than ever before.
Building on CAMH’s leadership in education
CAMH is Canada’s leading mental health teaching hospital, with a long history of training current and future health professionals. We also strive to support patients and families in navigating the mental health system. Each year, more than 50,000 learners in Canada and around the world take part in CAMH education programs.
The Academy builds on this legacy and scales it globally. For the first time, CAMH’s accredited professional development programs, public education offerings, and lived-experience informed resources are brought together in one streamlined system. The result is a learning experience that is based on evidence and grounded in real-world relevance.
Accessible, accredited, and practical
The Academy emphasizes accessibility and flexibility. Learners can choose from self-directed modules, live webinars, micro-learning resources such as podcasts and videos, and conference-style events.
Programs are accredited by leading bodies, including the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Medicine, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
This model ensures that learners can pursue professional development and personal growth in ways that fit their needs and schedules, while still meeting the highest standards of clinical education.
A global impact
Launching the Academy marks an important step forward in making CAMH’s expertise more widely available. By bringing together high-quality education into a single hub, CAMH is making it easier for learners to find the right training, build individualized learning pathways, and access content informed by both clinical evidence and lived experience.
“At CAMH, education has always been at the heart of how we improve care,” says Dr. Sanjeev Sockalingam, Senior Vice President, Education and Chief Medical Officer at CAMH. “The Global Learning Academy is a catalyst for learning and collaboration—empowering healthcare providers, patients, families and communities alike to build skills and knowledge that drive better mental health care.”
Meeting the needs of diverse learners
The Global Learning Academy was designed with a broad community of learners in mind:
Health-care professionals can access accredited, evidence-based programs that keep them up to date on the latest advances in psychiatry, mental health, and addictions.
Community-based providers and educators can strengthen their skills with practical, accessible courses that apply to real-world challenges.
Patients, families, and advocates can build knowledge to support loved ones, break down stigma, and better navigate the mental health system.
This diversity of audiences reflects CAMH’s belief that advancing mental health requires equipping everyone, from clinicians to caregivers, with the knowledge to make a difference.
