The Ontario Pharmacy Support Program (OPSP) is a non-OHIP-funded clinic with a mission to help reduce the emotional, social, and economic costs associated with mental health and substance use problems in the workplace for members of the College of Pharmacists of Ontario and their families.
The clinic consists of an interprofessional team of psychiatrists, psychologists, pharmacists, occupational therapists, social workers, and physicians specializing in mental health, addictions and pain. Our team has extensive experience in evidence-based assessment and treatment of mental illness and substance use problems. We also provide education, support and information to help navigate the health care system in Ontario, including available community resources.
Our expert team works together to facilitate improved function and recovery of your college member (pharmacists, pharmacist technicians and pharmacy students/interns), with the goal of a successful and safe work life. Our services include education, assessment, treatment, monitoring and/or referral to appropriate community services.
The mission of the Work, Stress and Health (WSH) Program and OPSP for the Ontario College of Pharmacists and the Ontario Pharmacists Association is to help reduce the emotional, social, and economic costs associated with mental illness and substance use problems in the workplace. We are committed to a holistic approach that helps individuals to transform their lives and recover in ways that are culturally, religiously and spiritually sensitive.
Services are available for all members of the College of Pharmacists of Ontario (pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, pharmacy students/interns), along with support for their family members.
Our team has the expertise and training to provide assessment, diagnoses, and treatment in the areas of mental health, substance abuse/dependence, stress and burnout, and marital and family difficulties, among many others, as well as access to additional specialized clinics within CAMH. We are also able to provide referrals to external resources at the member’s request.
A record will be created for each person who contacts the OPSP. Should callers wish to remain anonymous, an anonymous label will be attached to their record.
The OPSP team routinely shares clinical information with each other in an effort to provide the best possible care.
Records will be kept for a minimum of 10 years from the date of last activity, after which point they may be destroyed. All records are stored securely in accordance with PHIPA.
Upon entering into the monitoring agreement, members consent to OPSP sharing information relating to their care and/or monitoring with all individuals/institutions as outlined in their monitoring agreement. In certain circumstances, information (including personal information or personal health information) of members in a monitoring agreement who are non-compliant with their respective monitoring agreement and who are deemed to pose a risk to themselves or others may be reported directly to the appropriate regulatory authority and to the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
All details regarding confidentiality of information (and circumstances for disclosure) will be discussed in detail with members prior to entering into a monitoring agreement with OPSP. Please feel free to contact the OPSP Direct Referral Line with any questions or concerns you may have with respect to the collection, use, and dissemination of any personal or personal health information you may disclose.
