Program Overview
Laboratory Tests
The Clinical Laboratory at CAMH is accredited to provide on-site testing services for CAMH inpatients and outpatients at the Queen Street site in the following disciplines: biochemistry, hematology and toxicology. Phlebotomy (blood collection) service is provided at both the College and Queen Street sites. Patient testing that cannot be provided in-house is referred to other accredited facilities as appropriate to the testing requested.
EEG and ECG
Electrodiagnostic services (EEG and ECG) are available to CAMH's inpatients and outpatients. Routine EEGs are performed to rule out or diagnose organ disease, seizure disorders, encephalopathies or tumors. ECGs assess risk to patients pre-medication and pre-ECT and assist with the diagnosis of cardiac infarct, conduction blockages, arrhythmias, etc.
X-ray
Routine diagnostic radiology is provided for inpatients and outpatients of CAMH at the Queen Street site through a third-party contract that is on site twice per week. Diagnostic radiology that cannot be provided in-house is referred to other accredited facilities as appropriate to the investigation requested.
