Dr. John Strauss is Clinician Scientist in the Child, Youth and Family Program at CAMH. He is also Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Faculty, Institute of Medical Science at the University of Toronto.
Areas of Research
Dr. Strauss's research is dedicated to finding inherited factors associated with mental illness. He has published pioneering findings on early-immediate and neuroplasticity genes in childhood onset mood disorders, adult bipolar disorder and suicidal behaviour. Dr. Strauss has more recently led methylation and methylome studies of bipolar disorder using mass spectrometry and microarray technologies. Currently, he is advancing the use of electronic medical records for clinical and research purposes.
