OPOP services are currently provided by three collaborating programs affiliated with Departments of Psychiatry in Ontario. To access OPOP services through one of the collaborating programs, a referral from an eligible referring Northern provider, remote or rural site medical staff is required (e.g., general practitioner, psychiatrist, psychologist, social worker, clinical nurse specialist).

Types of Treatment and Services Offered
- Provide contextually relevant and community-oriented mental health services
- Real-time consultation for client care in-person and/or via secure videoconferencing
- Support indirect care with local primary care providers
- Offer unique resident education and training opportunities in underserved communities across Northern Ontario.
Program Overview
The Ontario Psychiatric Outreach Program (OPOP), established in 1999, is committed to providing mental health care, education and support to communities throughout Ontario, particularly communities that are northern, rural, remote or considered under-serviced in terms of mental health care, including Francophone, First Nations and Métis communities.
We strive to provide quality mental health care that is person-centered, equitable, and community-engaged.
