Referral Requirements
Entry into the program is voluntary: prospective clients need to apply through their lawyer and/or duty counsel. The DTC Crown attorney screens all applicants for eligibility.
Additional Details:
- Court sessions are held on Tuesdays at 1:15 pm in room 904 at 10 Armoury Street. Court may also be accessed by zoom.
- While new applications are being processed, the matters are to remain in the respective courtrooms until a decision is made.
- If screened eligible, the DTC staff will inform you and arrangements will be made to have the matter adjourned to a DTC sitting date.

Program Overview
This substance use intervention model combines drug addiction treatment with the judicial supervision of a “problem-solving” court. It offers an alternative to incarceration for adults who face criminal charges as a result of non-violent criminal activities related to their use of opioids, crack/cocaine and methamphetamines.
Clients participate in a structured outpatient program with extensive case management services, random urine screens and frequent court appearances. Upon successful completion of the program, which lasts a minimum of one year, clients receive a non-custodial sentence, rather than incarceration.
The DTC is a partnership between CAMH, the Ontario Court of Justice, the Ministry of the Attorney General and many community agencies.
