Youth involved in the justice system (YIJS) have much higher rates of mental health concerns than youth in the general population. Yet, YIJS are often left without needed mental health support because the number of youths requiring interventions greatly exceeds the available services. This short video highlights challenges and opportunities to improve mental health and substance use treatment guidance and improve care for these youth.
This video is part of the research project Mental Health Standards in Youth Justice Settings in Canada, funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).
