Kelly Meighen has been an active volunteer and philanthropist for over 30 years supporting vulnerable communities in Canada. Through her individual efforts and as President of the TR Meighen Family Foundation, where she has been a member of the board since 1980, she has led and supported numerous local and national campaigns promoting health, education, and the arts.
Kelly Meighen received her BA from the University of Western Ontario (1971) and has received honorary doctorates from Mount Allison University in 2000, the University of New Brunswick in 2003 and Western University in 2013. She is past Chair of the CAMH Foundation Board and past Chair of the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health Board of Trustees.
Kelly was the original Chair of McGill University’s Academic Advising and Mentoring Advisory Board. She is a founding member of the Board of Jack.org., a youth-led national charity focused on mental health. She was Chair of the Stratford Shakespeare Festival from 2005 to 2007.
Kelly has been honoured with the Association of Fundraising Professionals Philanthropist of the Year Award, Western University’s Dr. Ivan Smith Award, and the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal. Along with her husband, the Honourable Michael Meighen, Kelly was the recipient of the Yorktown Family Services 2013 Humanitarian Award for Community Service.
