As part of Black Mental Health Week 2026, we are proud to host a virtual research spotlight and panel discussion centred on the theme: “The Importance of Research as We Continue to Build on the Accomplishments of the Ancestors.”
This event will highlight the critical contributions of Black researchers whose work continues to advance knowledge, equity, and impact in mental health and beyond. Each featured researcher will share a brief overview of their current research, offering insight into innovative approaches, emerging findings, and the communities they serve.
The panel discussion will explore the broader context in which Black researchers work, including systemic barriers, opportunities for institutional transformation, and recommendations for future generations of scholars. The conversation will also reflect on how today’s research builds upon the intellectual, cultural, and social foundations laid by those who came before us.
This event is an opportunity to celebrate excellence, deepen our collective understanding of research as a tool for justice, and reaffirm our commitment to supporting Black scholarship within our institution and across the field.
