Dr. Stephanie R. Penney is a research psychologist in the Law and Mental Health Program at CAMH and an assistant professor with the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto.
Areas of Research
Dr. Penney’s current research interests include the predictive validity of dynamic risk factors for violence in forensic populations, such as psychiatric stability, substance use, stress and coping. She is currently conducting a longitudinal research study examining the relative utility of dynamic and static markers of risk in predicting violence and victimization among discharged forensic psychiatric patients. Other research interests include juvenile violence risk assessment and the assessment of psycholegal constructs relevant to young offenders, such as competency to stand trial and future dangerousness.
