Dr. Janet Durbin is a Scientist with the Health Systems and Health Equity Group in the Social and Epidemiological Research Department. She is also an Assistant Professor with the Departments of Psychiatry and Public Health Sciences at the University of Toronto.
Areas of Research
An expert in performance monitoring, program evaluation, measure development, community mental health, systems of care, Dr. Durbin’s research is focused on the organization and delivery of mental health systems and services, particularly for individuals with severe mental illness. She recently completed a system-wide planning study comparing current and recommended service needs of individuals in inpatient and community care. Dr. Durbin is a co-lead of the mental health team for the Ontario Hospital Report that assesses the quality of inpatient psychiatric care and she is collaborating in the development of a tool for measuring inpatient perception of care. She was also co-lead of a four-year study of the impact of new community mental health funding in Ontario. Measuring service practices to support system integration is one component of this work.
