CAMH joins the trans community of Ontario in celebrating the passing of Provincial Bill 33 (Toby’s Act), extending full and explicit human rights protection to trans people.
A tremendous amount of work went on behind the scenes to bring this bill to fruition and we would like to particularly recognize and honour the Trans Health Lobby Group for their leadership,” said Dr. Nicola Brown, Staff Psychologist at the Gender Identity Clinic at CAMH.
Gender Identity Clinic Head Dr. Chris McIntosh says, “The importance of the passing of Toby’s Act cannot be overstated. Both the real and symbolic implications for trans individuals living their lives at school, at work or in the community, will be enormous. This is an important step in the recognition of equal rights for the trans community in Ontario.”
