Revamped ER aims for light, bright, airy

A warm and welcoming environment is a key focus of CAMH's new emergency department.

For the new mother struggling to lift herself out of the black hole of a deepening post-partum depression. For the homeless man who hears voices inside his head that torture him relentlessly. For the university student who can’t seem to shake a sense of worthlessness so deep he thinks obsessively about taking his own life.

For all these people — and so many more — the new mantra for CAMH’s redesigned, reinvigorated emergency department (ED) at 250 College St. pretty much says it all: “Care starts here.”​
