People interested in accessing CAMH’s services now have a single location they can call to find the help they need. Access CAMH is a phone service which provides centralized information, intake and scheduling for most services at the hospital, serving patients, family members, physicians, community health providers, and other stakeholders.
The service provides patients and caregivers with information about mental illness and addictions and how to make a referral to CAMH. It also allows most patients looking for help with drugs, alcohol or other addictions to refer themselves to CAMH’s addictions services, with their first appointment typically scheduled in only one call.
"Access CAMH is giving people easier and simplified access to our services," says Natalie Quick, Manager of Ambulatory Services at Access CAMH. "People don’t have to try to figure out how to access services at the hospital—we do that for them."
Health care providers referring their patients to CAMH appreciate Access CAMH’s new streamlined intake process. "We now have one referral form, with one fax number, and we have an interprofessional team to get referrals to the right place at the right time," explains Natalie Quick.
To contact Access CAMH, call (416) 535-8501 and select option 2. Phone lines are typically answered live Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Please note that Access CAMH does not provide crisis counselling over the phone. In the event of an emergency, people are encouraged to visit their nearest Emergency Department or call 911.
