Every day more than 320,000 patients across the province are treated by a doctor, receiving high-quality care when it’s needed most. In Ontario, we recognize the hard work and selfless dedication of our physicians by celebrating Doctor’s Day on May 1st.
We have 390 physicians who work at CAMH, and their contribution to the care of our clients, as well as the education and research done by our hospital, is enormous. Make it a point to say “thank you” to a doctor today!
(L to R) Dr. Suvercha Pasricha and Dr. Ellen Rumm
Being thanked by a client is especially meaningful. Here’s an excerpt from a recent note submitted to CAMH leadership paying tribute to two exceptional physicians who work in CAMH’s Women’s Service:
“Dr. Pasricha...and the Transitional Program with Dr. Rumm are very dear to me and helped me find my desire to go on living. I am a very grateful recipient of CAMH CARE. Thank-you again.”
After reading these kinds words, Dr. Suvercha Pasricha’s passion for working with clients at CAMH was palpable. “I feel blessed that I am able to do what I do every day,” she said. “Each woman who walks through our doors is treated with the utmost dignity and respect and I truly believe we help them start their journey towards transformation and recovery.” Reflecting on her work with clients, she couldn’t help but acknowledge the team around her. “I want to salute all of the physicians on this special day...”
Dr. Ellen Rumm similarly expressed the appreciation she feels for her clients and colleagues. “On any given day at CAMH I can traverse a range of feelings working with clients. But underlying all is gratitude to the people I treat,” she said. “They share so much as they make their journey through treatment and I’m repeatedly moved by the courage clients display. As for the team - they are a remarkably dedicated, talented, supportive group of colleagues.”
