About CAMH

Family Council

The Family Council represents the interests of families at CAMH through participation of families in CAMH governance, committees, work groups and other CAMH groups. Advocates on behalf of families at CAMH on a systemic level. Advocates for supports for families at CAMH, and develops and supports information and learning opportunities for families.

The Family Council also offers support to families through their Family Resource Centre (FRC) located at 250 College Street in Room G21. The FRC is made up of volunteers who have experienced the impact of mental health and addiction issues on their own family members and friends. Working out of their experiences as family members and friends of people with mental health and addiction issues, they offer:

  • emotional support
  • understanding
  • education
  • coping strategies
  • opportunities to meet with other family members
