Temerty Centre for Therapeutic Brain Intervention

The Temerty Centre for Therapeutic Brain Intervention is part of the Mood and Anxiety Disorders Program at CAMH. The centre encompasses Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, Electroconvulsive Therapy, and Magnetic Seizure Therapy.

The TMS program is primarily a research laboratory. All referrals are screened to determine eligibility for any of the studies operating at that time.  Assessments include structured diagnostic interviews and psychiatric consultation where appropriate in addition to a number of cognitive components.

Current projects

  • Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation to Evaluate the Role of Clozapine Potentiation of Gaba in the Treatment of Schizophrenia
  • Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Treatment Study to Enhance Working Memory Deficits in Patients with Schizophrenia
  • Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation for Treatment Resistant Depressive Disorder
  • Cortical Inhibition in the Pathophysiology and Treatment of Major Depressive Disorder
  • Paired Associative Stimulation in the Dorsolateral Prefrontal Cortex in Patients with Schizophrenia: A combined rTMS and Electroencephalography study across the Lifespan
  • The Effects of Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation on Healthy Human Subjects
