Dr. Lena C. Quilty is an Independent Scientist in the Clinical Research Department at CAMH.

Areas of Research
Dr. Lena C. Quilty studies personality and cognitive moderators and mediators of illness course and outcome, with a particular focus on the role of personality traits and thinking styles in cognitive behavioural therapy for depression. This research has suggested that personality can predict a preferential response to different treatments, whereas personality and cognitive change during treatment may play a causal role within different treatments. The identification of moderators of treatment outcome can inform treatment selection and delivery, whereas mediators of treatment outcome can contribute to the development of potent, efficient treatments – resulting in treatment optimization that is both evidence-based and patient-centred. In this context, Dr. Quilty further studies psychological interventions for co-occurring mood and behavioural difficulties, such as binge eating and alcohol use.
