Dr. Catherine L. Mah is Scientist and Head of the Food Policy Research Initiative in CAMH’s Social and Epidemiological Research Department and with the Ontario Tobacco Research Unit. She is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Public Health Policy at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health and affiliated faculty at the School of Public Policy and Governance, University of Toronto.
Areas of Research
Dr. Mah leads policy research on contemporary food issues with an impact on population health and wellbeing. Her work addresses noncommunicable disease prevention and health promotion in urban environments. She currently leads a number of CIHR-funded projects including the FACE study on ethical principles that inform policy debates on food advertising to children (2011-2013) and the policy analysis component of a CIHR Programmatic Grant in Health and Health Equity to study policy interventions to address household food insecurity (2011-2016). She is engaged in research partnerships with Toronto Public Health and the Toronto Food Strategy, and is member of the Toronto Food Policy Council. Dr. Mah holds an MD from the University of Calgary with a specialization in clinical paediatrics and a PhD in health policy from the University of Toronto.
