Northern Aboriginal Outreach

The role of the Aboriginal Northern Provincial Service is to establish a central organizational strategy when working with First Nations communities. This will involve sustained capacity building, short and long term training strategy, enhancing clinical support, research development, and drawing upon other CAMH services to support the initiative, such as outreach psychiatry and addiction programs. The process would include testing new service delivery methods, evaluation, leveraging technology in new ways to mitigate geographic issues, and supporting locally identified research efforts.

The goal of the Provincial Aboriginal Training Initiative is to develop partnerships with local communities providing addition and mental health services to Aboriginal peoples and to conduct training need assessment. The Provincial Training intiative is to work with both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal to identify and develop regional training.
