CAMH’s Bioethics Service is dedicated to client well-being and organizational integrity. The Service provides specialized help with clinical and organizational ethics questions and concerns, more specifically:
- providing ethical analysis and advice about an immediate care or administrative opportunity, question, concern or a recurring situation
- teaching ethical knowledge and skills to students, clinical staff, employees, and managers
- offering advice in policy development/review
- encouraging dialogue and reflection about the relationships, practices, and perspectives involved in helping and supporting people who have or are recovering from a mental illness and/or addiction problem.
What placements are available in your discipline?
3-month placements have been available through the 12-month Fellowship program at University of Toronto’s Joint Centre for Bioethics.
Am I able to do a block placement?
Yes.
Am I able to do my placement hours in the evenings/weekends because I work?
No.
Am I able to split my placement between 2 programs (i.e., Addictions Program and MAUI)?
Bioethics Service works with all CAMH clinical programs.
What qualifications are required for placement?
Graduate degree in bioethics (e.g., MA or PhD).
I’m not from Canada. Can I still do a placement at CAMH?
Yes.
How do I apply for a placement at CAMH?
Request placement once accepted into University of Toronto’s Joint Centre for Bioethics Fellowship Program.
Do I require any immunizations before coming to CAMH?
Yes.
Will I require a police check?
No.
