Dr. Napapon Sailasuta is a Senior Scientist in the Research Imaging Centre in the Campbell Family Mental Health Research Institute at CAMH.
Areas of Research
Dr. Sailasuta's expertise is in the development of novel MR spectroscopy and imaging techniques related to the measurement of concentrations of metabolites such as choline, creatine, N-acetyl aspartate and lactate, as well as in methods to study real-time metabolic processes in the brain.
In the past, Dr. Sailasuta has worked for General Electric Healthcare, leading research and development to implement the automation of MRS data acquisition protocols into GE MRI scanners, which are currently the industry standard. She was also heavily involved in developing the MRS proton brain package (PROBE) and prostate body package (PROSE). As Senior Research Scientist at Huntington Medical Research Institutes in Pasadena, California, she developed a novel method to study dynamic brain metabolic processes using carbon MRS, which enables the measurement of glutamate neurotransmission in the frontal brain.
Dr. Sailasuta has nearly 100 peer-reviewed publications and three patents on MR spectroscopy techniques.
