Dr. Michael Roerecke is an Independent Scientist with the Institute for Mental Health Policy Research and is part of the World Health Organization/Pan-American Health Organization (WHO/PAHO) Collaborating Centre for Addiction and Mental Health at CAMH. Dr. Roerecke is also an Assistant Professor at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health in the Division of Epidemiology at the University of Toronto. Dr. Roerecke has a PhD in Epidemiology and Addiction Studies from the University of Toronto.

Areas of Research
Through systematic reviews and meta-analyses, Dr. Roerecke's research aims at synthesizing the evidence for the relationships between substance use and misuse and associated harms, with a focus on multiple dimensions of alcohol consumption (including drinking patterns and alcohol use disorders) and several chronic diseases, such as type II diabetes, heart disease, stroke, hypertension, pancreatitis, and liver diseases.
