We will always remember Bridgett and Ashley for being strong and courageous in spite of living with mental health challenges that prevented them from achieving many of their dreams. Despite their struggles, Bridgett and Ashley always tried to shine through and see the positive in the reduced landscape of their lives. We continue to find strength and acceptance over such irreparable loses knowing that the life and memories we shared with them will never be forgotten and will forever live in our hearts.
To honour Bridgett and Ashley’s wish to remove the stigma that still surrounds mental illness, the family has created The Ashley and Bridgett Garcia Rainbow Fund as a permanent legacy. A rainbow symbolizes peace and represents a feeling of tranquility. Rainbows commonly appear after a storm and, for a brief moment, offer the feeling of peace. The rainbow also signifies the promise of better times ahead. This aligns with CAMH’s mission to create a better future for anyone struggling with mental illness and addictions, and discovering more effective ways to prevent suicide. Your tribute gift will be put to work helping those affected, by offering an opportunity for recovery, leading to a fulfilling life with a brighter future.
