Dr Ruth Ross has joined CAMH and the University of Toronto as Senior Scientist in the Campbell Family Mental Health Research Institute and Chair, Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology, Faculty of Medicine for a five-year term. Prof. Ross was previously at the University of Aberdeen, where she was Chair in Molecular Pharmacology and Director of the University’s Kosterlitz Centre for Therapeutics, which is focused on the translation of biological research into novel drug discovery and diagnostic strategies.
A leading authority in cannabinoid research, Prof. Ross has published in leading, high-impact journals and has a research portfolio that is internationally collaborative. Her research is directed toward gaining insight into the deleterious effects of cannabis smoking, the potential of cannabis as a medicine, and the development of small molecules targeting G protein-coupled receptors.Prof. Ross received her PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Edinburgh. She has been a leader with the Scottish Universities Life Sciences Alliance (SULSA) as an executive committee member and Director of its Translational Biology Theme.
