The Mood and Anxiety Inpatient Unit (MAUI) is a 12 -bed unit that provides short-term focused inpatient treatment for individuals with a mood and/or anxiety disorder who are in the acute phases of their illness. Patients, who are 18 years and over, are typically admitted to the unit via the Emergency Department or an internal transfer. Treatment is provided by a multidisciplinary team consisting of psychiatrists, psychologists, a general practitioner, nurses and social workers. Individual and Group programming is enhanced by services provided by recreational therapy, occupational therapists and peer support workers. There is a research focus of new treatments for mood and anxiety disorders.
