DOES YOUR LOVED ONE SUFFER FROM AN EATING DISORDER? YOU CAN HELP!

The Emotion-Focused Family Workshop is an incredible opportunity for parents and caregivers of individuals struggling with an eating disorder, regardless of their age.

The essence of this new approach is to afford families a significant role in their loved one’s recovery from an eating disorder, and to empower parents and caregivers with specific skills to be effective in this role. The premise for the work is based in a deep belief in the healing power of families. Throughout the two days of the workshop, facilitators will educate and support parents and caregivers in mastering the skills, tasks, and, yes, the feelings involved in three main domains:

Through education, video demonstration and skills practice, parents and caregivers will become equipped with practical strategies with respect to 1) meal support & symptom interruption, and 2) emotional support and relationship repair. Parents and caregivers will also be supported to 3) identify, work through and overcome many obstacles that surface in this challenging and novel journey. The specific skills taught over the course of the 2 days are meant to be effective regardless of the affected individual’s age or motivation for change.

This workshop is open to parents, step-parents, grand-parents, aunts, uncles, spouses, partners and any other adult caregiver – whether or not they are involved in active treatment with their loved one. We will also make available a few spots for clinicians for training purposes.
