Reimagining the Queen Street site to modernize and integrate patient care, research, education, health promotion and prevention activities in one location will, of course, have a huge impact on service delivery and outcomes. But it will also create a space that, by its very physical nature and openness, is more inclusive, respectful and dignified and helps break down stigma. Everything the Mental Health is Health movement is about.
Our Guiding Vision for the Future
It was a bold plan from the beginning. Rooms with views and natural light. Green space. Indoor and outdoor spaces that reduce patient stress, enhance healing and raise staff morale. Integration with the surrounding community instead of walled in and cut off from it. An urban village in place of an institution.
