Circulating materials may be borrowed in person or through inter-library loan within Canada (Ontario only, for videos). The loan period for books is four weeks. There is a three item limit for students, organizations and the general public, which includes no more than one video.  There is a renewal limit of one item.  The journal collection and reference materials may only be used in the CAMH Library.

Borrowing privileges of the person or organization will be suspended if an item has not been returned or renewed.  If material is lost, the exact replacement value must be paid for each item before borrowing privileges are reinstated.

The CAMH Library will conduct periodic purges of patron records that have been inactive for two years or longer. 

Library Cards

Library Cards are available for:

• Individuals: To get a library card, you must be a resident of Ontario and register in person. You will need to show a photo ID with your current home mailing address or two pieces of ID, with at least one providing your home mailing address. You will receive your card in the mail in approximately one week (this means that you will not be able to borrow items on your first visit to the Library). If you live out-of-town, see Inter-Library Lending; or
• Organizations: Ontario Organizations such as treatment agencies may register for borrowing privileges. Two contact names must be provided. For further instructions, contact Circulation.

The CAMH library print resources may be borrowed by any library in Canada. There is a $10.00 charge per book for book loans outside Ontario. There are charges for photocopied material, such as journal articles. Charges depend on delivery mode, location, and other factors. Consult with your local public, university or corporate library to borrow CAMH Library materials.
