Dialectical Behaviour Therapy - Part D

 
 

 Description/Learning objectives

 
​Dialectical Behaviour Therapy: Supervised Applications is a practical, hands on course designed to provide in-depth knowledge and skills in DBT through supervision of videotapes or audiotapes from the participants’ own practice.  The aim of this course is to help clinicians apply DBT strategies to their individual sessions, whether or not the clinician is involved in or plans to implement a comprehensive DBT program.  Each session will consist of small group case supervision.
 
 
The pre-requisite for this course is “DBT: Problem Based Learning”.
 

 Target audience

 
​This course is designed for people who want to treat individuals using DBT techniques.  Participants are expected to be applying DBT with one or more patients. The pre-requisite for this course is DBT: Problem Based Learning.

 Faculty

 
Carmen Wiebe, MD, FRCPC is a staff psychiatrist in the CAMH BPD Clinic and Lecturer in Psychiatry at the University of Toronto.  She coordinates the BPD Clinic Consultation Service, and offers individual therapy, group skills training and medication management within the Dialectical Behaviour Therapy programme.  She teaches extensively across Ontario on BPD and DBT.
 
Robert J. Cardish, MD, FRCPC is the Senior Psychiatrist in the CAMH BPD Clinic and Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto.  With over 20 years experience in treating BPD, he has practiced DBT for five years.  He is a co-investigator in the Canadian Institutes of Health Research multi-site trial of treatments for BPD and has given numerous presentations on BPD.
 
Shelley McMain, Ph.D., C. Psych is a researcher, clinician, and educator. As Head of the Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) Clinic at CAMH and Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at U of T, she has published on Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, personality disorders, the treatment of people diagnosed with concurrent disorders and psychotherapy research. A frequent speaker on DBT, she offers consultation to hospitals on the co-ordination of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy services.
 

 Requirements/Prerequisites
