TEACH Specialty Course: Tobacco Interventions for Women Across the Lifespan

This course is held under the auspices of the Office of Continuing Education and Professional Development, Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto and Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto, Ontario.​


 Description/Learning objectives

Formally known as Helping Pregnant Women Quit Smoking.
This specialized course will allow participants to increase their knowledge about tobacco use, screening, assessment and interventions to apply with women who smoke across the lifespan. 
After completing this workshop, you will be able to:
  • List the sex and gender differences in smoking prevalence.
  • Choose optimal tobacco cessation and/or reduction strategies for women across the lifespan.
  • Understand the implications of using pharmacotherapy to quit smoking during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
  • Understand how partner and other supports for quitting can impact practice.
