Research Training
New: Postdoctoral Fellowship Opportunity in CAMH's Borderline Personality Disorders Clinic (deadline: February 15, 2012)
Scientists at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health have supervised research trainees throughout CAMH’s history. Currently,
over 150 graduate students and postdoctoral fellows pursue their studies under the direction of scientists in the four research
departments: Clinical Research, Neuroscience Research, the Research Imaging Centre and Social and Epidemiological Research. Our trainees come from a variety of disciplines, and go on to become very influential contributors to the substance use and
mental health field.
The current Director of Research Training is Dr. Jeff Daskalakis, who works with CAMH's Research Executive Committee to enhance
and improve the experience of research trainees at CAMH. These initiatives are designed to enhance the trainees’ ability to
take advantage of unique CAMH features including:
- The diversity of our science that is translational and emphasizes research that goes from the bench to the bedside to the
community
- A special expertise in concurrent mental health and substance use disorders
- Research incorporating many disciplines with a focus on both community and institutional work
- The demonstrated willingness of CAMH scientists to collaborate across disciplines
- The proximity of CAMH to the University of Toronto and a matrix of surrounding universities
We believe that the combination of outstanding trainees, world-class supervisors, broad opportunities, and institutional commitment
to scholarship and excellence results in extraordinary undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral training at CAMH.
Postdoctoral Research Fellowships
The Postdoctoral Fellowship Program provides a comprehensive training program in the fields of addiction and/or mental health
and training in research techniques. Postdoctoral fellows are expected to make independent contributions to knowledge during
their appointment. These may be in the form of a contribution to an existing project, or through the development of an original
project.
Currently, a fellowship is available in CAMH's Borderline Personality Disorders Clinic. The deadline is February 15, 2012. Read more about this fellowship and how to apply.
The CAMH Postdoctoral Fellowships Program is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health and by the generosity of patrons through
the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health Foundation. The fellowship competition is held annually (conditional on availability
of funds) with deadlines toward the end of the calendar year. In addition, a new Fellowship in Community-Based Research is now available.
