Clinical Postdoctoral Fellowship

Applicants are invited to apply for a full-time post-doctoral fellowship at the Borderline Personality Disorders (BPD) Clinic
at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), starting September 2012 or sooner. CAMH is a teaching hospital and research
centre fully affiliated with the University of Toronto. The BPD Clinic at CAMH is an evidence-based treatment and research
outpatient clinic specializing in the treatment of multi-disordered individuals diagnosed with borderline personality disorder.
We provide evidence-based treatments for adults with a variety of clinical problems, and we have a comprehensive DBT program
and multi-disciplinary team including psychologists, post-doctoral fellows, and clinical psychology students. The fellow would
work closely with Dr. Shelley McMain, Head of the BPD Clinic and Head of Personality Disorder Capacity Building and Research
in the Women's program at CAMH.
As part of a collaborative partnership between the BPD Clinic and the Child, Youth and Family Program (CYFP) at CAMH, we are
seeking an individual who is experienced in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI) and interested
in working as a project coordinator for a treatment study for youth and families with concurrent mental health and substance
use disorders. This Canadian Institute of Health Research (CIHR) funded multi-site study is designed to evaluate the effectiveness
of treatment for youth with concurrent mental health and substance use disorders (CD) and their families. The aim of the project
is to examine the feasibility and preliminary effectiveness of DBT skills training and motivational interviewing for concurrent
disordered youth. The interventions will be delivered at three treatment settings across Ontario. The post-doctoral fellow
would receive experience and training in conducting clinical trials, grant writing, mentoring and supervising students, clinical
supervision and consultation, and managing a multi-site treatment study.
Requirements: Ph.D. or Psy.D. from APA or CPA accredited graduate program prior to start date; APA or CPA accredited pre-doctoral internship;
experience and training in CBT for adults and/or adolescents; a strong interest in DBT and in working with multi-problem clients.
Experience and training in DBT is a requirement.
