Volunteer Requirements

Before you apply to Volunteer at CAMH  please make sure you meet the program requirements. Volunteer Applicants must be:

    • A minimum of 19 years old
    • Able to commit to the Volunteer Program for 1 year
    • Able to maintain the confidentiality and privacy of CAMH clients
    • Respect the Mission, Vision and Values of CAMH

 

The Application Process

The process for accepting new volunteers can take several months. Placements are based on a balance between staff and client needs and the volunteer’s motivations and abilities. If  a position becomes available that suits your skills, interests and schedule as described in your application, you will be contacted for an interview. If after the interview you are selected for a volunteer position you will need to complete the following before officially registering as a CAMH volunteer:

    • Your references must complete and return a CAMH reference form
    •  Perform a pre-placement health screening that includes a two step TB test
    •  Submit a Police Reference Check (for certain volunteer placements)
    •  Successfully complete a general Volunteer Training 
    •  Sign a Confidentiality and Service Agreement
